He is taken in by an older cousin, a delightful woman in her sixties he calls Miss Sook. She calls him Buddy, and she becomes his best friend in all the world. Together they find wonderful ways to celebrate the holidays in spite of having almost no money. And he never forgets the gift of love he gave her.
